Tonsina Trail is a classic favorite amongst locals and ends with a beautiful walk along Resurrection Bay. Explore the Mount Marathon Bowl and gain new vantage points of the city and surrounding waters. For those curious about the famous Mount Marathon Race, extend your bowl trip further to reach the peak of the Race Trail. Bear Mountain is an off the beaten path hike for bold hikers seeking a challenging but rewarding experience.

Important to note: All time lengths are estimates. Trips may be shorter or longer depending on speed of group and trail conditions.

Note that Tonsina trips may be shared with other groups, but all other hikes will be private.

Tonsina Trail

Difficulty: Moderate hike. If you are new to hiking this trail may be challenging at times. Expect some areas on the hike with steep incline, rocky conditions, and switchbacks.

Price: From $100 per person

Length: 3.4 miles out-and-back

Estimated Time Length: 2.5 - 3 hours

Ages: All ages (All children must be accompanied by an adult)

Note: Lowell Point State Recreation Site charges a $5 parking fee not included in your booking. Seward Guided Hikes is not responsible for your parking pass if leaving a vehicle in the parking lot.

Mount Marathon Bowl Trail

Difficulty: Hard hike. Expect steep inclines, possible muddy, wet and slippery conditions. Some sections may require crossing over snow.

Price: From $130 per person

Length: 4 miles in length.

Estimated Time Length: 3 - 4 Hours

Ages: 9 & up (All children must be accompanied by an adult)

Mount Marathon Bowl Trail

Difficulty: Hard hike. Expect steep inclines, possible muddy, wet and slippery conditions with a steeper hike on a ridge line. Some sections may require crossing over snow.

Price: From $175 per person

Length: Approximately 5.5 miles in length that includes steeper ridgeline hiking.

Estimated Time Length: 5 - 6 Hours

Ages: 10 & up (All children must be accompanied by an adult)

Bear Mountain

Generally this hike has a minimum of 2 people per trip, but we can make exceptions. Please reach out to see if we can make it happen!

Difficulty: Very hard hike. The hike begins with a considerably steep section in which you may have to use roots and trees as handholds. After the steepest section, it remains continually uphill. You will have to return the same route down so expect a steep and cautious descent. Some sections may require crossing over snow.

Price: From $250 per person

Length: Approximately 4.5 miles but steep.

Estimated Time Length: 5.5 - 7 hours

Ages: 13 & up (All children must be accompanied by an adult)

Important to note: While we encourage hikers of all skill levels and experience, we do require that all hikers have the level of fitness and health to perform the hike you select. If you are more nervous about hiking, we recommend Tonsina!
